Darco-son Douglas competed success-fully in the international 1.50m classes with rider Conor Swail. Unfortunately, a serious injury ended Douglas’ sports career, but his enormous scope and jumping technique will never be forgotten. As a 3-year old, Douglas underwent his stallion test in Adelheidsdorf, earning the 1st place in jumping with 139.49. As a 4-year old Douglas was the Champion of Ireland in his age group. At the age of 6, he was Irish reserve champion.


Offspring of Douglas are in the spotlight at the highest level. Suma’s Zorro participated at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy 2014 and won several Grand Prix competitions; in 2017 he won the GP of Spruce Meadows. Dougie Douglas was sold for 1.4 million Euros at the Goresbridge Auction. He won the Grand Prix and the Nations Cup of Odense in a single weekend. The past year he won a 1.50m class in Harrisburg, was 2nd in the GP North Salem and was 5th in the World Cup of Washington. Dha Dha HDH won the GP Fontainbleau. Guru was 4th in the GP Balvanera and in 2016 he was 2nd in the Mexican jumping Championship. Dassler won the Puissance in Liverpool, the Six Bars in St. Lô and was 2nd in the GP Cagnes-sur-Mer. Douglas Hill was 2nd in the GP Drammen and Coral Springs, was 3rd in the GP Linz-Ebelsberg and 6th in the GP Kreuth.

Other international show jumpers by Douglas are: Abbervail Lightening, Boleybawn Perfection, VDL Cassius, Chinook W, Crocket W, Dallas VDL, Darling HDH, Darc Horse, HHS Dublin, HHS Diamond, Dollanstown, Durania K, Dundalk, Dream On, Delacroix As, VDL Excel, Eurvette O, Fly With Me, Honeylands Doug-lason, Houpette, Icarus, Jasmijn vd Renthoeve, James vd Oude Heihoef, Javas Wild Child, Millioninmind, Merrywell, Alfie Douglas, Mr. Rockefeller, Treba Douglas, The Pugilist, Vinny Douglas etc.

Dartagnan was reserve champion of the 7-year old show jumpers at the American East Coast Series. Camillo VDL won the Championship for 5-year olds in Dublin and then took the Irish Championship for 5-year olds. Carneyhaugh Manx was Champion of the American East Coast for 7- and 8-year old jumpers. Erne Lady Goldilocks was National Champion of Ireland.

Descendants of Douglas were sold for enormous prices at several auctions. Daddy Cool sold for € 300.000 at the Jumping Talent Sale 2016, De Beers sold for $190.000 at the WEF Sport Horse Auction 2015, Lavino JE was sold for €21.000 in the Star Sale foal auction 2016 and Darko Z was sold at the Zangersheide foal auction 2014 for € 24.000. Colorado was the top seller at the Expo Talent Sale 2011 for € 340.000.

Daughters Hanoliva VDL and Dolivia both earned 85 points for their IBOP test. At the National Free Jumping Championship 2010, Douglas daughter Cirnanda, became the Dutch Champion.

Douglas has numerous approved sons.

Thanks to the outstanding performances of his offspring Douglas received the predicate ‘Prestatie-Fok’ of the NRPS studbook.
